During one of my workshops, a 32-year-old female said she had been with a company for eight years and had not advanced to where she had hoped she would be at this point in her career. While doing a brain-scan exercise, very similar to doing a virus scan on your computer, we found that, as a child, whenever she was proud of an accomplishment or had had a great idea, she would share with her dad, only to be asked, “How could you be so stupid?” Now, what do you think she continues to hear every time she tries to move forward with an idea or processing a thought? She hears the voice in her head telling her that she is stupid. While doing a truth-finding exercise we confirmed that she was no longer a child and, no, she was not stupid.
